What was the problem?
MG Capital needed a better version of the internal app it runs its operations on. Its company is a commercial janitorial services business in North Carolina, USA, with 201 to 500 employees, and the app holds its buildings, work orders and client relationships.
The existing app had problems on more than one level. The UX was not obvious, the owner did not trust the customer service of the team behind it, and the enterprise environment chosen for it was not the right fit. The owner was looking for a UX/UI designer to redesign it.
What we delivered
How the project started
We reached out to the owner when we saw he was looking for a UX/UI redesigner. After the first meeting we sent him a free seven-page PDF that analysed his app and suggested better solutions. He hired us for the design. Because we worked in an agile way and took ownership of the product, he then moved the development to us as well, even though our price was well above his previous development supplier's.
Our role: everything, built from zero
We designed and built the platform from zero, down to the last line of code, and handled the data migration and the integrations. The project ran in phases from June 2025, with app review sessions along the way. Every phase is now done and released.
What the platform covers
• Buildings and client relationships in one place.
• Work orders: scheduling, assigning and tracking progress.
• Real-time calendars for planning the work.
• Billing through QuickBooks Online.
• Role management for different staff.
• Customer-facing interfaces for MG Capital's clients.
• SMS and push notifications, sent through Twilio and SendGrid.
Two decisions that shaped the platform
An audit before any contract
Before anything was signed, we analysed MG Capital's existing app and wrote down what we would change. The usual route would have been a sales proposal. We chose to do the analysis first because it shows how we think about the problem. On Clutch the client later wrote that he chose us because we understood the business problem.
Rethinking billing with the client's team
We did not carry the old billing processes over as they were. We rethought how work turns into invoices in QuickBooks over several rounds with MG Capital's colleagues, adjusting the flow after each one.

What the client said
“UPRIVE DESIGN Studio Kft. has taken the time to understand the business problem and help me think through the UI/UX.”
Questions about the MG Capital platform
Who built the MG Capital facility management platform?
UPRIVE, a product studio in Budapest. We designed and developed it from zero, migrated the data and set up the integrations.
Does it integrate with QuickBooks?
Yes. Billing runs through QuickBooks Online. Notifications go out by SMS and push through Twilio and SendGrid.
What does the platform cover?
Buildings, work orders, client relationships, scheduling, real-time calendars, role management, customer-facing interfaces and billing.
Can you rebuild an existing internal app?
Yes. MG Capital already had an internal app. We analysed it, redesigned it and rebuilt it from zero, including the data migration.
