MOHU: deposit return system app design

We designed the UI of MOHU's tools for Hungary's new deposit return system: the admin panel behind the public waste map and a mobile app concept.

What was the problem?

MOHU is MOL Group's national waste management company. It runs Hungary's unified waste management system and the new deposit return system (DRS).

There was no earlier tool to replace. The deposit return system was introduced by the government as something entirely new in Hungary, so the software around it had to be designed from scratch.

Our role: UI design, with code by the development partner

We worked on MOHU with the same development partner as on MOL Group's internal tools. The partner wrote the code. Our scope was the UI design of MOHU's admin panel and of a mobile app concept.

What we designed

• Admin panel, waste map and search editor: MOHU staff maintain the public directory of waste drop-off points and customer service points, with import and export, map positioning and permission-based access.

• Mobile app concept for the deposit return system: a mobile-first prototype with location-aware search, guidance on what can be thrown where, ratings, and map, call and navigation functions.
